I like it.But too dark in night.

    • January 6, 2012  8:07 am by The Masked Gamer

try the “Legacy version” integrated in the latest v1.5!

      • February 27, 2012  12:08 pm by Corey

HDR was set way too high. Made lights inside jacked up. Saturation was a little too high too.

    • November 25, 2012  2:44 pm by ApexPredatorI

Did not find the Comment button so I used reply.

I tried the "pure" version and I think it is ok, however what put me off was that at the middle of the day Faces were glowing as reflecting the sunlight. Since I wanted something realistic I stopped using it. Otherwise no complaints.

    • December 17, 2012  7:41 am by Animakrayg

Yeah, I Uninstalled the mod now my game won't stop crashing. Can't figure out why. It was working fine before i uninstalled. Can't even play my game now.

  2. January 4, 2012  3:58 am by lsfasu

It is too DARK to see. Oh my eyes!

    • January 6, 2012  8:04 am by The Masked Gamer

try the "Legacy version" integrated in the latest v1.5!

  3. January 5, 2012  4:07 pm by Nuada

Love some of the comparative screenshot but i can't stand the light effect when you see the sky and then around.. too much for my eyes.
Maybe it's because i always play in 3person view and move the camera very much around, but the continuous strong change from light to dark is killing me.
In Vanilla there is similar effect but more fast and less strong, less difference from light and dark.

    • January 6, 2012  7:14 am by The Masked Gamer

that's the "blinding" effect, it simulate the light over exposition in relation with the human eye!

  4. January 6, 2012  6:24 am by ))

but it's good with lighter version in 1.5, thx.)))

  5. January 6, 2012  12:51 pm by Capsali

Great mod but very demanding . Without it i get max fps (60) almost anytime . With this i get around 40-50 . It wouldnt be a problem except it sometimes hangs. I get the sensation of low fps even though i fraps shows 45 fps . What could be the problem cause i realy like this mod .

    • January 18, 2012  6:08 pm by The Masked Gamer

hello, can i ask what value of ugrids are you using? FXAA and HDR are applied to the full scene, then more grids to load = more fps drop! (usually i suggest to use a gridvalue not over 9)

  6. January 9, 2012  9:26 am by ixferno

this mod makes my fps drop for 15 fps(!!!!!)
can you make something that can make not so much fps drop
    lite version?

    • January 18, 2012  6:10 pm by The Masked Gamer

where do i find and how do i edit my grild value?

        • January 30, 2012  8:53 am by The Masked Gamer

you can find uGridsToLoad into your Skyrim.ini, usually located in C:UsersyourusernameDocumentsMy GamesSkyrim

  7. January 11, 2012  4:22 am by Dragenborn

This mod really rocks and i put it back on after I've spotted the conflickting mod that messes up my game (have nothing to do RCRN btw)
I assume you fixt the night couse i think the nights are a little bit too light, and a flare isn`t needed at all. Maybe I`ve to read your changelog again ;)

Anyway BIGUP for this mod wich is really my favorite!

  8. January 11, 2012  4:29 am by Dragenborn

I was thinking that the nights are linked to the indoor locations. In that case I understand that it`s very difficult to find a good balance between night outdoor and indoor. Becouse when here is no light in a dungeon at all that misses a lot of detaille of the game, on the other hand some real gameing exprience at night outdoors..... After all, the mod as is is really GREATH and it makes Skyrim so much better.
The Pause Break butten do I use somethimes to wonder why the game have been launched that way :P

    • January 18, 2012  6:11 pm by The Masked Gamer

Hello, this issue has been fixed by the new version 1.6! Check it out on SkyrimNexus!

  9. January 11, 2012  1:57 pm by Greenhorn

Don't know why, but all menu texts and subtitles are kind of fuzzy when this is installed here. Without it all the text is clearer and i can read it much better...

    (German version) @ 1920x1080 on LCD - 16 AF - 8 AA - FXAA ON ... Max-Settings for the rest

    • January 18, 2012  6:13 pm by The Masked Gamer

this is related to fxaa, we reduced a lot this side effect in the new v.16 (out now) but we cant remove it totally. If you dislike it you can disable the Fxaa by following the instructions reported in the mod page (on skyrimnexus) :)

  10. January 14, 2012  12:49 pm by Thibaut Cuvelier

It just does not work for me (with the modified d3d9.dll in the game folder, SkyrimLauncher.exe just keeps crashing, just like TESV.exe) - Win 7 64 bits English.

    • January 18, 2012  6:14 pm by The Masked Gamer

close all OSD programs, and update the directX runtime to the latest version!

  11. January 18, 2012  8:25 am by Nic

It makes the text hideous, I'm guessing that's the AA or whatever but I'm too lazy to change it. You should really think about adding a NMM version with configurable options.

    • January 18, 2012  6:15 pm by The Masked Gamer

  12. January 20, 2012  1:13 pm by Eduardo

I liked the mod but my VGA seens to be too weak to use it, my fps droped too much.
Maybe I reinstall it when I upgrade my computer, I have nothing to complain.

  13. January 27, 2012  3:16 am by varIIkon

Thx are lot! Updated to 1.6mv

If I uninstall the mod I can play again, but would love to get this working somehow as the screens/videos of it are breathtaking, fantastic work! I'm running 64bit W7.

  15. February 7, 2012  9:00 pm by richmo11

Nevermind, fixed it by updating DirectX, sorry!

  16. February 28, 2012  12:48 pm by Eyestabber

Too dark. Even in legacy preset.

  17. March 3, 2012  6:28 am by Lifell

I thought maybe this version would work. But Skyrim still uses my integrated graphic card instead of my NVIDIA. "Forcing" in the control panel obviously doesn't work. Tweaking enbpatch.ini also doesn't work.

Putting any DirectX related .dll in the skyrim dir causes Skyrim to not detect my NVIDIA. Thanks for the mod anyway. I hope I can find a good (personal) profile for the "Realistic Lightning Without Post-Processing" mod.

Thanks for all the afford. It lagged because it used my crappy card but it did look nice!

  18. March 3, 2012  6:30 am by Lifell

Although, if you have anything that can maybe make this work, I would 100% for sure like to hear your advice.

  19. March 4, 2012  11:36 am by Morgan Johnston

Had to uninstall it. I couldnt start my game at all with it installed. All my drivers etc are up to date.

    • March 4, 2012  1:34 pm by The Masked Gamer

Have you updated the directX run-time as listed in the FAQ? :D

  20. March 5, 2012  10:35 pm by Shad Miles

The colors seem to work, but the lighting doesn't. Everything is still "vanilla" lighting. I can't figure out why.

  21. March 17, 2012  8:59 pm by Uuni

Apparently my hardware can handle ~6 shader & texture mods but was tiny bit too much for my graphics card so it cant handle it without choking :/

Nice mod tho, I wish I had ran into it earlier

  22. March 21, 2012  2:16 pm by crushonyou

The colors are good , but I am using SMAA injector now but this mod injec FXAA.......
After trying hard...I give up , hope there will be SMAA compatible version inthe future.

  23. March 24, 2012  5:52 pm by Horian

First i got random freezing, and finally... crashes... crashes everyware.... unistalled and resolved. see ya.

    • March 26, 2012  4:50 am by The Masked Gamer

you need to monitor your VRAM usage.

  24. April 7, 2012  12:25 pm by noctmonster

Too dark even in legacy mode, and too much saturation. Also takes about 15fps drop outside. Would like an option to reduce saturation and contrast.

  25. April 8, 2012  9:39 pm by Volomon

My only complaint, is that why to frequently did the lights dim, you know the whole HDR effect or at least I guess that's what it was. Where your eyes would adjust to the lighting, well it keeps adjusting so frequently that it just became annoying.

  26. April 9, 2012  8:32 pm by Hoptic

great great mod you did. Played with the "pure" setting.
But too big a performance hit. Without the mod, I have good FPS but some textures won't load and the game will sometimes crash. With RCRN, this happens a LOT more and the game feels laggy.

It's a shame, because the mod is properly awesome. Nights and weather effects are really good too.
The only downside (apart form the performance hit): inside caves/dungeons, it wasn't just pitch black, the ground and some textures had a really weird tint that made the dark feel unnatural. I really enjoy pitch dark caves, but your pitch dark has sometimes weird results on paved grounds or things like this.
But really, it's a minor thing, almost unnoticeable I'd say.

    Anyway, good luck!
(e "arriverderci", perché sembre che siete italiani!)

  27. April 14, 2012  3:21 pm by Adam

Awesome mod, but my PC struggled with it too much so installing. Thought I'd be alright with an i7 and 8 gig of RAM but nooooo..... I'll be back with more RAM!!

  28. April 15, 2012  2:01 pm by Armand

I used Legacy, looked great as enhancement!

But... after installing this i could not longer open the skyrim launcher, and therefore not able to acces the option and data files whithin the Skyrim launcher.

I also experienced contiously CTD's, this was in the hideout mod: Dovakihns hiedeout... So it could be that, or the combination between some mods and this one.

I'll try to mess around and will install RCRN again i think.

    Thanks for the great enhancement!!!

  29. May 21, 2012  9:48 pm by prollygon

Couldn't see anything. Uninstalling and revoking my nexus endorsement. Yes, I was using legacy (through auto installer).

    • May 21, 2012  9:49 pm by prollygon

By that I mean in dungeons and indoors.

      • May 22, 2012  12:16 am by aLaaa

Nice reaction in relation with a mod that is provided for free.
Anyway are you using the Legacy via the Steam Workshop or the standard autoinstaller?

  30. June 8, 2012  1:50 am by VampLena

Its a great mod, but it is incompatible with alot of nice stuff like Natural Rain and snow and the like and the shadow/lighting mods. It would be nice for a future update to perhaps include some of those built in. Also in some area's like the Stables near Whiterun for instance I got 3 minute freezes and major slow downs. It never crashed but it interrupted the gameplay significantly regularly. Runnnig Stock ugrids with the reccomended tweaks on my EVGA GTX 570 stock overclocked card.

    • June 8, 2012  6:18 am by aLaaa

Hello, RCRN it is not compatible with Natural Rain and snow because a similar effect is already included in RCRN, so you don't need them. About lighiting mods, RCRN is already a lighting mod so you can't install more than once at time or you will run in incompatibilities.

Regarding slow downs i can suggest you to check the vram usage, usually they start when you finish the vram available, so try to switch to a lighter texture mod.

For any other issue or more info check the FAQ!

  31. June 11, 2012  4:10 am by shaemus777

I Love it one of the best if not the best I've seen but as with all lighting mods i use this bug pops up and i have got no answers as to what it is or how to make it go away check link

  32. July 31, 2012  10:59 am by shabu

"Pure" is very nice outide but too dark in the inside and “Legacy version” to bright outside..

  33. August 12, 2012  9:29 am by TESGOD

    first 3 - w/o RCRN
    4 - rcrn with hialgoboost
    5-6-7 - w/o mods / texture packs

Outdoor looks normal, other interiors ( checked only 1 ) have normal lighting, but too much sharp.

Im using legacy rcrn + hialgoboost, huge number of texture/mesh packs, dynavision, imaginator, WATER, SMIM, dynamic snow. Most of textures come from combined texures pack.

This glitch can be observed even w/o rcrn, or any other ppi.

    • August 12, 2012  9:51 am by aLaaa

if this is happening also without rcrn please double check that you uninstalled correctly previous lighting mods like ENB! You can also try to verify your game cache via Steam to check if any file is missed!

      • August 12, 2012  10:26 am by TESGOD

Indeed i have tried other mods like FXAA injector and ENB, but i've deleted all of them entirely. ( I am sure of this ).
I have non-steam version of game.

        • August 12, 2012  10:35 am by aLaaa

non-steam version of Skyrim does not exist, we can't offer any support if you are not using a legit copy.

  34. August 12, 2012  10:52 am by TESGOD

Can't see how this can be related to this issue, i have legit copy of the game, but i don't use steam to run it.
As far i know game is the same with or without steam. So integrity check is not an option.

    • August 12, 2012  11:09 am by aLaaa

the game can't start without steam, and it's related because we can help only if you are running the latest patch available.

  35. August 22, 2012  1:45 am by Gothryd

Thank you for an amazing mod. I also really like the "rain waves" effect from Natural rain 1.5, it will be great if such effect will be added to the heavy rain stuff in the next version of RCRN.

  36. August 24, 2012  9:11 am by ljusastjarnann

Couldn't find the uGridsToLoad in my skyrim.ini file, and when i added it to become =7 - my FPS still remained 10-15. Any help..?

    • August 24, 2012  10:27 pm by aLaaa

Ugridstoload is located in your skyrimprefs.ini not into skyrim.ini!

    • October 21, 2012  11:32 pm by aLaaa

it's an issue caused by Nvidia drivers, the bug is from their side not on our, anyway we scheduled a fix for that issue for the first weeks of november because we are bored to wait an "official" solution that doesn't come.

  37. November 5, 2012  7:25 am by oberon358

i liked the mod, but i took too much of a performance hit.

  38. November 11, 2012  3:46 am by vampirecoffee

Installed RCRN. After being forced to sit through two more spashscreens (which one of you thought "You know what Skyrim needs? More unskippable opening splashscreens!"), I opened my map and the game crashed.

I will not be installing RCRN in the future.

    • November 11, 2012  9:38 am by aLaaa

RCRN doesn't cause any crash issue, our code is perfectly stable, and RCRN is not related at all with the ingame map. Splash screen can be removed.

In the future read the provided documentation.

  39. November 12, 2012  8:50 pm by ramakgaming

How do I change the brightness of light sources in the game? Including changing the darkness level of night, dungeons and interiors?

    • November 26, 2012  10:00 am by aLaaa

click on the "advanced" button in the RCRN Customizer.

  40. November 13, 2012  5:23 am by protagonist

made light reflection or bloom to bright. not sure exactly but wish I could fix it cause its the only reason I uninstalled. things like the wood from mills, stone bolder walls you see in smaller towns, and even floor planking seemed to glow during the daytime. morning/evening/night was awesome.

    • November 26, 2012  10:01 am by aLaaa

are you using the ingame brightness slider to the default value?

  41. November 18, 2012  5:25 pm by LamaWaffle

Is there any way i can make the brightness and over exposure levels similar to skyrim?
I have been trying to change the settings in the advanced tab, but it doesnt seem to do much. I want to keep your mod just the way it is..but just lower the brightness so it doesnt have that blinding light. Lower the contrast i guess? Im using the legacy preset.
Great mod none the less!! :D

    • November 26, 2012  10:03 am by aLaaa

you need to increase the gamma in the advanced tab, for example try to set it to 2 :)

  42. November 27, 2012  2:50 pm by Solarfall

Fantastic mod, really love it. One problem though. Even after I disable FXAA, I still get some text fuzziness. Is there some options I could tweak to get rid of it?

    • November 27, 2012  6:57 pm by aLaaa

      switch off also sharpening! :)

  43. December 17, 2012  7:47 am by Animakrayg

I uninstall this and my game stops working. I reinstall it game works again. somethings changed that i can't figure out and it won't let me play my game with this uninstalled. WHAT CURSE HAVE YOU LAID UPON ME!!!!

    • December 17, 2012  11:42 am by aLaaa

i guess that you've installed RCRN over an ENB without using the proxy....

  44. December 20, 2012  4:53 pm by demonxz

    The game does not start

  45. December 29, 2012  6:20 pm by ploedman

The Game is to dark, you can't see anything without a torch.
And how wants a torch in his hand when you sneaking?

    But great work!

    • December 30, 2012  1:12 am by aLaaa

did you try a brighter presets? Legacy for example is quite bright at night!

      • December 30, 2012  9:41 pm by ploedman

Yes I tried the legacy setting.
But after I checked my display settings I found it was on the setting for darker black, now I can see with legacy I the dark!

        My fault sry :)

  46. January 1, 2013  10:50 pm by maxapa999

I am having problems, I installed it with the installer but it doesn't look good, it's like a little more colorful vanilla version, it's too bright (I'm using the pure preset). The nights, the fire, it doesn't look real, nothin like the screenshots or the videos found in here.

    Thanks for the help!

    • January 8, 2013  12:05 pm by aLaaa

Hello, we would be happy to provide you all the help with your issue, can you just post it in our official boards, so we can better track it? Thank you!

  47. January 4, 2013  12:37 pm by Frenchman

I really did like the look of RCRN and I felt the saturation and brightness was spot on, minus some weird things here and there like torches being brighter than a damn supernova. The reason I uninstalled is the hit to my frames per second. Now this isn't really the fault of RCRN as any graphical improvements will hit your system in some way and I did remove some other texture packs and the like along side RCRN. You see my system is quite old ( Intel E8400 Duo Core 3.0GHz, Asus Nvidia 550TI 1GB, 4GB ram ) and hasn't seen any upgrades in the past 4 years minus a "meh" videocard. Graphical fidelity comes second to smooth game play for me and I was getting stutter and frame dips lower than 40fps so I scraped some mods.

    • January 8, 2013  12:10 pm by aLaaa

by disabling FXAA+Sharpening from our Customizer panel you should get back some fps! Did you try to do so? :D

  48. January 6, 2013  3:56 am by Sirielia

I think the color was great, but there was a bit too much blurriness (not text related) and even with Legacy, it was too dark. I'm the one playing vanilla Skyrim lighting with the brightness 4-5 clicks from the default middle because otherwise it hurts my eyes. :(

    • January 8, 2013  12:09 pm by aLaaa

blurriness is usually generated by the Skyrim FXAA, you should disable it from the game options! (the RCRN Fxaa is developed in order to not cause it, so you can keep it on!)

  49. January 23, 2013  12:16 pm by Sourav-93

After installing it, I wasn't able to run Skyrim at all. The launcher wasn't working, nor was the TESV.exe. But then I managed to get it running by running SkyrimLauncher.exe as admin, and then it worked. However, on the legacy preset, I did not notice any difference from vanilla Skyrim. I thought I the mod might be disabled, so I looked up what the hotkey was to enable/disable the mod. Unfortunately, the hotkey was the Pause key, which my laptop doesn't have. I tried using 3rd party software to emulate a key combination for the Pause key, but to no success.

    • January 23, 2013  12:59 pm by aLaaa

      Just two quick questions:
      - Are you using the latest Skyrim patch? RCRN requires it!
      - Are you using a laptop based on Nvidia Optimus technology? If so you have to apply the provided patch!

  50. February 14, 2013  8:07 am by soundcreepy

Loved the mod, till I feel victim to the almost non-existent weather that a few users are having, will come back to it if anything is worked out.

  51. February 21, 2013  10:46 am by Revelationl81

It's RCRN or nothing for me, ive used pretty much all lighting mods. None of them are perfect, but RCRN does come the closest. But the weather has been a problem for me as well. It's been a neverending storm for days that follows me everywhere (even in Winterhold) i go, wich pretty much kills immersion for me. It's a relativley new game i started when i installed RCRN. I had a few weather systems come in, clear/cloudy and then rain (wich never stopped). I think for now i'll just add my voice to the weather issue, and go back to (omg) vanilla skyrim. I'll look you guys up when your new version comes out, best of luck guys. On a side note RCRN was the only lighting/weather mod i had, along with Lanters of skyrim, ASIS and immersive patrols and all 4 unoffical skyrim patches. The only real iffy one there would be the patches because they change so much, but if i remember right they dont change the weather patterns.

    • February 21, 2013  12:51 pm by aLaaa

are you using the default timescale? Did you try with a new/clean savegame too?

  52. February 23, 2013  6:00 pm by marblehead

I am impressed by mod. It provides a very nice combination of lighting, however.. I have had to uninstall for the moment due to lack of weather changes. I was getting repeatedly clear weather. Happy to provide further info if desired.

  53. February 24, 2013  9:53 pm by KenG10

Same here! Pretty much clear skies 24/7 with this mod active. I uninstalled the mod and took a step out side of Windhelm and whadyaknow, it started to snow!

  54. February 27, 2013  7:10 am by Joten

After I uninstalled RCRN, I no longer have the Bethesda splash screen. How can I get it back?

  55. March 21, 2013  4:39 pm by awse123

not anything complain just wanted to uninstall cause want to play skyrim with normal fps

For some reason i'm now in a eternal night... and its always have a storm and thunders in the sky... maybe a incompability with "Climates of Thamariel"?

    • April 10, 2013  3:48 pm by aLaaa

Did you read the documentation before installing? RCRN is not compatible with CoT, both mods are working on the same areas!

  58. April 17, 2013  5:59 pm by SerpentrasD

Thats nice ,create a new Char up to lvl 12 and now I see the snowy parts of Skyrim and guess what my eyes will pop out because the light settings are not really made for indoor light sources and the snowy parts of the game. And I can not deactivate the modification because Skyrim wont load the save game. Snow looks for me like this background. I even cant see any texture without shadows who cover the snow.

    • April 17, 2013  6:21 pm by aLaaa

wut? Snow is perfectly fine, maybe you are experiencing a conflict of some sort with another mod, drop a ticket in our technical support board, and we will help you with your issue! :)

  59. April 23, 2013  6:14 am by Eurell

uninstalling, change to legacy. almost shat myself when facing bone dragon at night :)) (i'm using deadly dragon and enhanced mighty dragon)
there's something wrong with the torch? sometimes torch's brightness is too high, and my character's face almost look white

  60. June 14, 2013  11:32 pm by InstantZzz

This may sound weird, but, it was so bright on Legacy that I couldn't get past the intro sequence of the game.
Everything was so bright it that it killed my FPS. I may reinstall and try the darker versions but when I looked at the comparisons
Those were too dark for my liking.

    • June 15, 2013  10:02 am by aLaaa

Hi, probably you installed RCRN over an incompatible mod, or without properly uninstalling/configuring an ENB. Open a ticket in our Technical Support boards, and we will try to help you!

  61. August 2, 2013  12:45 pm by Asteriski

My computer is terrible and can't really deal with it. I wish I didn't have to uninstall, but ever since I installed, I've been getting really bad patches of lag and ridiculous load times. I'm sure it's a problem on my end.

  62. August 8, 2013  8:36 pm by fiberstaden

To bright light sources and some times to dark dungeons/houses

  63. August 14, 2013  2:03 am by nonja121

Love RCRN, and I'll be on board once AE comes out of beta (and if the issue with the interiors being too bright is fixed). However, I uninstalled for now because of the same issue that others have reported with the weather not changing. Whenever a blizzard kicks up around Dawnstar or Morthal (where I've been spending a majority of my time in my current game), it lasts for days and follows me south into Whiterun and Riften where this weather pattern shouldn't apply. Yes, I can fw 81a clear weather, but 1) the clear weather lasts forever, and 2) the issue recurs whenever I get a blizzard up north. And yes, I tried fw 81a --> save --> uninstall RCRN 3.6 --> clean save --> reinstall RCRN 3.6

The problem seems to be fixed with AE, but considering the interior brightness issue I had with AE, I think I'm just going to wait until all the bugs are hammered out in the upcoming version. It's a shame, too. I really do love this mod.

WELP, I'll be back when AE goes gold. In the meantime, please let me know if there's any fix to the weather issue. And no, I haven't tried to reproduce it in a new game because I don't want to start a new character. I actually want to "finish" a character, dammit! :-P

    • August 15, 2013  1:37 pm by aLaaa

There are no issues at all with interiors, they works perfectly fine both in 3.6 and AE, if you are experiencing issues inside building is probably due a conflicting mod, our scripts are using crosscontrols and so they can't fail. Anyway open a support ticket into our support boards and we will hel you in troubleshooting your issues. About weather occurrance ratio it has been already fixed in AE Beta and it works perfectly, again no issues, because this time it's we used a scriptless kind of setting. About AE beta, don't be scared by the beta mark, we called it so just because we are still finishing the new Customizer, but it's already way better than the old v3.6, and also bug free.

fantastic that this has no problems my self i give it up since it do have problems with over bright lightning at times even without other addons / mods.

    • August 24, 2013  1:44 am by aLaaa

Open a support ticket explaining your issue, into our Technical Support board, and we will help you ASAP. Please remember to post also your full mods load order.

  65. August 30, 2013  11:41 am by Tropico

The lighting looks really good when you have actual direct light falling on stuff, however the shadows are waaayyy too dark in comparison and I end up talking to a black outline of a person if I happen to catch them with the sun at their backs, even if the middle of the day. This is with legacy and classic and the other one.

After several times realizing I was squinting to make out the details out of the deep cavernous shadows that covered someone's face because they happened to be standing under a the roof of a stand in the Whiterun market in the middle of the day, I uninstalled.

  66. October 14, 2013  2:07 am by thepuzzlingcentaur

I loved it, no real complaints. But I won't be using it anymore.

  67. October 24, 2013  12:48 pm by TrojanMike60

This is by far the best lighting mod out there. Unfortunately, the alterations made to the weather just kill this mod. Worse yet, there's no option to turn off the weather changes.

I get pouring rain in high altitude locations where it should be snowing and I get blizzards in low altitude places where it should only be raining. Like Riverwood, for example. Not to mention the weather alterations themselves look fake which just kills immersion. RCRN makes the same mistakes all the other rain and weather mods make - there's heavy rain but yet the ground stays dry the whole time. When it comes to snow, there's blizzards but yet the ground stays void of any snow buildup.

There's a reason Bethesda only had light rain and light snowfall in the vanilla build, because they didn't have any way of making the ground look wet or snowy.

Unless you know what you're doing with coding weather systems it's best to just leave it be, no offense. I'll be looking for a lighting mod that doesn't change the weather.

    • October 24, 2013  1:07 pm by aLaaa

Hello, RCRN doesn't alter that stuff, those are issues at your side not related to the RCRN region management, if you are experiencing issues with v3.6 please move to the RCRN AE Beta.

      • October 25, 2013  1:20 am by TrojanMike60

I was using the latest 2.1 beta.

        • October 25, 2013  3:32 pm by aLaaa

AE Beta 2.1.1 is perfectly fine on the weather side, the issue you were experiencing was happening due a conflicting mod or because a broken savegame, not due RCRN. Open a ticket in the support boards with your load order posted in it and we will try to give you an hand.

          • October 27, 2013  5:54 am by TrojanMike60

I'm downloading the 2.1.1 hotfix. I'll see how that does.

  68. November 12, 2013  6:28 am by TrojanMike60

After extensive hours in 2.1.1, the weather issues seem to be fixed. The weather transitions from rain to snow and vice versa as you travel to higher altitudes and pass the frost line. Perfect. I will continue to use RCRN.

  69. December 16, 2013  6:08 pm by DAOWAce

Unrealistically darkens colors, even on the legacy preset. This is the type of thing I'd see with saturation and contrast increased and decreased respectively (along with a few other settings) way too much via SweetFX or something.

If I turn off the injector, it just goes back to how vanilla Skyrim looks.

Back to looking for another non-ENB lighting mod..

    • December 16, 2013  6:15 pm by aLaaa

NO. This sounds more something wrong at your side. RCRN comes with an .esp part, so it can't look like vanilla if you disable the post processing. So assure that RCRN was correctly loaded according to the load order suggested in our docs.

  70. December 27, 2013  6:55 am by GoochRash

Wanted to try it out but it would just CTD every time. Followed the FAQ and installed ENB through the customizer. No go.

    • December 27, 2013  7:18 am by GoochRash

Nevermind, found the mod that was the problem.

  71. December 30, 2013  1:26 pm by blacksheeprising

Crashes immediately for me. If I run as Admin, I get get the Bethesda cinematic and then nothing. DirectX, video drivers, everything up to date. FRAPS is off. I get the same problem with ULO.

    • December 31, 2013  2:58 pm by aLaaa

Double check directX, sometimes Windows fail to install properly the RCRN required runtime. This is usually a very rare occurrence but already happened to few users in the past.

  72. January 12, 2014  3:22 am by thecalvin123

I Honestly have no problem with this, other than the fact that me game just loses a whole lot of performance. My laptop is not built for gaming, it doesn't seem to run any HD mods very well. Might get a new computer soon, and I will definitely re-download this.

    • January 12, 2014  6:16 pm by aLaaa

Hi! If you are using an Nvidia Optimus based laptop please select the Optimus support in the RCRN Customizer, otherwise your alt Intel integrated card will be used.

  73. January 21, 2014  11:42 am by Avroveks

Crashes immediately for me. Windows 8.1

  74. January 27, 2014  4:35 pm by Aeradom

Attempting to isolate an issue with my run speed. Doubt it's RCRN but I disabled all my mods, started a new game, and still am having the issue. Plan to reinstall if and when issue is resolved.

    • January 27, 2014  5:05 pm by aLaaa

if you have dubts, I can assure you that we never messed with anything related to run speed :)

      • January 27, 2014  6:14 pm by Aeradom

Well it wasn't the only thing I was checking. The other thing was to discover whether or not it was causing the alt-tab crash was the problem. Turns it out uninstalling it fixed that. I'm going to reinstall it once I know more how to install ENBoost with RCRN and MO

  75. February 9, 2014  11:32 pm by ars3n

    • February 9, 2014  11:34 pm by ars3n

se poteste mettere quei raggi di luce che escono dalle finestre nei interni come fa elc e rlo; RCRNsarebbe LA MOD

    • February 10, 2014  12:03 pm by aLaaa

Ciao!

      • February 10, 2014  9:02 pm by ars3n

intendo che è proprio un problema di elc rende alcune fonti di luce troppo accecanti e irrealistiche per la grandezza di quel oggetto (tipo le candele). Il problema a che non tutte le candele o lanterne lo fanno e non riesco a trovare un fix

        • February 10, 2014  9:27 pm by ars3n

edit volevo dire elfx non elc ho sbagliato acronimi

  76. March 18, 2014  5:19 pm by blacksheeprising

Decided to try it out again. The game launches, but none of the effects actually work. No AA, no color/gamma/sharpness adjustments, nothing. Vanilla Skyrim post processing. I ran it as admin, installed the linked DX9 package, and gave myself full control over the folder and all files inside. None of it worked.

  77. March 29, 2014  8:42 pm by Grimwred

Clearly, it's the best weather and lighting mod for use without an ENB. The pure preset is just fantastic ! Very good work ! :)

But I tried a lot of ENBs and I have found no one that matches RCRN pure without a lot of tweaking, mostly because RCRN is an all-in-one package with a lot of features, and some of those interfere with ENBSeries and the result is bad. I know an ENB community preset is WIP, I think it is the only missing killer feature.
I uninstall for the moment but I keep an eye on this.

One more time, very good work !! :)

  78. April 5, 2014  5:34 am by Whytesmoke

I really, really like what RCRN does. However, it's just too hard on my potato-battery of a computer.Rest assured, this is my go-to lighting mod, but I'll be stuck with the Imaginator until I get something better.

10/10 would run FPS into ground for again.

  79. May 14, 2014  2:10 pm by KeriaMacleod

Hey, awesome stuff here.. but I find myself having trouble with it more often than not. I'm on Legacy setting, but nights are still far too dark. Wolves and the like are totally invisible, and Wearable Lanterns set to the 900 radius setting (two ticks above standard torch) is still darker than a standard torch in the base game. I'm reinstalling RCRN for compatibility reasons, and giving it another go. Hopefully i can figure it out!
Also, I'm playing on a HD1080 enabled laptop through a HD720 TV. I notice a 10 FPS drop at the worst of times and usually can't tell the difference in FPS from unmodded Skyrim. Great stuff! :D

    • May 14, 2014  2:42 pm by KeriaMacleod

Sorry for double post, doesn't appear to be any edit button.
Reinstalled mod, fixed a issue I was having with the customizer. Still too dark but I managed to offset by cranking up Skyrim's built in brightness slider. Apparently my darkness problem is because of using a LED720 TV as my monitor, as I tried it with a normal LCD computer monitor and it looked much better. (But that monitor is only a 12" haha)

As a suggestion, it would be nice if an option was added to compensate for the "true black" of LED-HDTVs, or something similar. :)

    • May 14, 2014  2:42 pm by aLaaa

Hello! All our presets are tuned for Monitor use, TV panels usually have a lower brightness coefficient, so you may need to adjust the RCRN gamma setting a bit through our config file, in order to replicate the Monitor behavior. Open a support thread on our Boards and we will give you an hand! :)

  80. June 24, 2014  11:33 am by meltyc

No rain sound after exiting buildings.
Tried the forum search and looked on the nexus for similiar problems.

Questions were either not answered or "it's not our mod since it doesn't change sounds".
Well after uninstalling RCRN I had sound again after exiting buildings.
Load order were correct and I used no mods other than RCRN to look for the bug.

I like RCRN but this breaks my immersion.

  81. September 14, 2014  9:37 am by SnarkyMcSne

This was sooo good I needed to reply. I use mod organizer to handle my mods. So I decided to switch from rcrn to urwl because I was getting the fps drop. But I didn't uninstall rcrn when I switched over to urwl. So to my surprise I was getting really dark nights with urwl's lighted windows that I liked. Now I couldn't figure it out how the nights were dark(er than normal), the windows were lighted(really lighted) and I was still getting the fps drop(not too bad) and the long load times(even though I use safety load) until I checked the skyrim directory. All of rcrn's stuff was still there. Saturation, tint you name it. Uninstalled it. Went back into the game and the nights were again urwl's. But I got to admit that it was pretty cool. Now I KNOW that you can't play with both because they both do the same thing BUT I might try it out again just to see how far I can go with it before my game screams NOOOO.

  82. September 19, 2014  7:15 pm by Xuanne

Used it for quite a while, but it is incompatible with the latest Nvidia driver (v344.11).

If it is any comfort, SweetFX and ENB is also incompatible with that driver xD

  83. September 24, 2014  7:29 pm by ZanderMicah

This is a great mod and all and I loved it before it was updated but since it's been updated and I'm unable to download v3.5 it keeps crashing. Everything is up to date, I've uninstalled mods that conflicted with RCRN but I am still getting CTD at the main menu.

  84. October 6, 2014  5:30 pm by Luna_Abyssus

i see the last comment is from about 2012 :D
so i will do an Actually One :)

RCRN is the Most Epic Mod for weather and Lightning EVER ! ! !
i don't wanna bash on other weather mods, but this one is kickin a well known Mod's Ass Big Time :) just wanna say thank you, for the Awesome Work and Putting up this Mod to the Skyrim Community ♥

  85. March 25, 2015  5:23 pm by davethedovahkiin

I uninstalled RCRN, but it didn't actually uninstall anything it seems. The ESPs are still there and its script is still in the scripts folder. What else would it have left behind?

    • March 25, 2015  5:26 pm by aLaaa

If you are using a Free antivirus such as Avast, it may mess with the uninstaller and prevent it to work properly, I suggest to disable it, Install RCRN again and then run the uninstaller one more time. Cheers.

  86. March 25, 2015  5:39 pm by davethedovahkiin

It was trying to uninstall from the wrong directory, yet still told me it was successful. I deleted things like the uninstaller and re-installed, then uninstalled using the new uninstaller. Worked like a charm, thanks.

  87. June 23, 2015  10:40 pm by Serzet

Regardless of my configuration, the game was incredibly unsaturated. There were some points in the game where my screen was just completely gray.

  88. January 7, 2016  8:10 pm by Master2g

RCRN is really great but sadly i keep getting 3 issues that just will not go away when using this mod. Tried updated Direct X , unchecked all mods .Uninstalled reinstalled RCRN AE many times , cleaned save , remove ini and pref and many other things and it just keeps giving me issues. Start from save point and game is really dark. Exit to world map then back in game it lightens up . Sky textures load fine then when you play for 2 minutes or so they become corrupted and have lines / edges like the texture no longer line up. Have only one sky mod "Dramatic Clouds" and one light mod "ELFX" with only the core file installed . I use Imaginator as well. Uncheck that and it still does it. To bad as it looks really good in game and is awesome but mod its no good if i cant use it with out issues. :(

    • January 7, 2016  11:35 pm by aLaaa

Dramatic Clouds is not needed, RCRN already comes with custom clouds, while we don't suggest to use Imaginator since it may conflict with our stuff. :)

  89. February 2, 2016  4:26 am by Master2g

Found my darkening issue was due to a eye adaptation mod compatibility. That part is fixed. Luckily thus far Imaginator hasn't been a issue. It allows me to adjust tint if you will and would be awesome if it could be come recommend to work with RCRN.. I have both and together man do they produce some amazing lighting. I only complain when i do because it so frustrating to not be able to use RCRN. I have had it working and its so damn good i cant play sky rim with out it. When skyrim wants to be a pain it can be the most anger inducing game to mod ever . :) . I will get rid of dramatic clouds then as it seems RCRN over writes any cloud mod. With other mods installed or not the clouds still look the same. I wanted to ask if i have to ununstall and reinstall RCRN does it over write textures ? It might soun dstupid to ask but considering the damn game is so "fragile" i wondered if to a fresh install of RCRN over writes any mods in the texture department. Thanks.

  90. July 20, 2016  6:09 pm by ColeB117

There are certain things I love about RCRN.
    1. It is my favorite lighting replacer as I have way more complaints about all the others I have tried
    2. Gorgeous colors
    3. Realistic interiors is pretty sick
    3. Dark, but playable nights
    4. FPS loss minimal

There are just a few things that could be slightly better
    1. Sometimes nuclear bright HDR even at it's lowest settings
    2. Occasionally shadows are like black holes despite my best attempts to tinker with various settings
3.Unlike ENB, the sun glare seems to overlap mountains. I've heard ENBs struggle with the sun still reflecting off surfaces though it is behind a mountain but in RCRN the sun is basically still visible through the mountain. Takes the drama away from sunsets and sunrises..
    4. Sometimes the colors just seem off. I was on a mountain in the middle of the day and the snow blowing at me was tinted a dark red. This could be my fault for using so much saturation.

Overall I prefer using a heavily modified of the old Sharpshooter's ENB (classic) from the nexus that should really be more popular. I'd love it if I could somehow take some features of RCRN and use them along with my ENB. I want to keep ENBs lighting/colors but I want RCRN weather, the cool interiors, etc. Is there any easy way to go about accomplishing this? I really want to stay away from CoT..

  91. September 3, 2017  9:46 am by Jason210

I've tried them all and come back to RCRN, because it has the most immersive feel for me, especially when used with ELFX and True Storms. It's the only mod that can make things really dark in that combination.
